Help the Pemon! What YOU can do
Support is crucial in the next couple of months. If the Pemon can halt the progress of the last section until the rains in May, they will have chance to make their protests heard, lobby and organise legal support for their cause. Through supporting the Pemon, you will be taking a stand against yet another mega project set to devastate a unique, beautiful region of wilderness. You will be taking a stand against profit seeking mining multinationals. You will be supporting the struggle of an indigenous people risking their lives to protect their sacred land. Make a donation. These funds will be used to support the Pemon’s case where it is needed most. For the next three months we budgeted appr. US $ 10.000 for the most urgent expenses. Make donations to our bank account at the Postbank München. Account Nr. 1490 70-800, BLZ 700 100 80 clearly indicating FOR PEMON. We also accept US $ in cash or cheques. Send letters of solidarity. A website is being established with up-to-date information on this issue and information for forwarding mail. Spread the word – ask your friends check the site. The protest letters will be sent to officials in Venezuela as well as to embassies in Europe. This pressure makes a big difference. The Pemon have asked - 'Please keep the protest mail coming. We need thousands more letters!'
